Tata press release says they have initiated internal re-organization subjected to board approval.
They could be merging it to sell it easily, or to offer DTH+Broadband under same management.
Also the fact that they are already letting Airtel use Tata's fiber make it possible a future sale may happen.
Anyway they are making this statement to indicate a future direction. It may or may not be done.

Airtel only has to pay the govt. some unpaid spectrum license fee of docomo for this acquisition (zero cash to tata).
The main thing here is that instead of selling TataSky to sweeten the deal they offered the Fiber network to Airtel.
The DTH deal is in freeze mode and now Airtel will have to pay high amount if they want to buy.
Still Tata is indicating they want to explore further cooperation.

So They Sell Tata Sky In Future Or Not What You Say Bro About That

So now DTH deal is cancelled. Well can they actually merge DTH and Broadband, i know both are owned by Tata, but TS is a Joint venture and Sky would not like to dilute its presence, there were news that Sky would be getting additional stake.

Not now for sure. Could happen if Tata is short of cash and Airtel offers good deal. Anyway you can relax for time being.

You are right. No idea what Tata group is trying to do here by initiating this move.

I feel they would not touch DTH Business as its a going good. And both Tata and Sky are powerful companies, and both share their technology and values to create TS. They will keep it as it is.

Good move by docomo... At least airtel can improve their network coverage in village areas..

Tatasky is buying TATA's broadband, landline business and getting into broadband businesses
We save ₹8,000-9,000 cr from the deal: Tata Sons CFO

You have given all your spectrum and subscribers to Airtel for zero cash. What is in it for the Tata group?

This deal is great for Tata group because we get to keep what we like. We have a lovely enterprise business which we have offered to Tata Communications. If they decide to take it, it makes us one of the largest players in this space. In Tata Sky, we end up retaining the broadband and fixed line units.
Tata Sky wanted to get into the broadband space. It has the option to start greenfield but this offers an option to start on a small scale and then they can scale it up. Problem was always the consumer space. Their the option was to shut it down as it was not sustainable or we had to find some other solution.
