Infibeam Avenues Limited is planning to enter the unified payments interface (UPI) market with its new payment app, RediffPay, sources aware of the development told Entrackr.

This license enables RediffPay to offer Unified Payments Interface (UPI) services to its users, marking Infibeam Avenues' strategic entry into the consumer-facing digital payments sector.

oh wow. now that is a name i have not heard for a long time. Rediff used to be the go to website for the first batch of teenagers with internet connection in India. Dial-up times. Wonder how many people or even people in the age group of 20-35 will know the brand.

Anyway, India does need a strong 3rd player in the UPI space after the Google-PhonePe duopoly. JioFinance doesn't have the numbers, neither does Amazon, super.money is flipkart/phonepe. Maybe if they have a fast, reponsive user experience they can get a market.
