MUMBAI: After fully acquiring Hyderabad-based internet service provider (ISP) Beam Telecom, Bengaluru-based cable TV and broadband service provider Atria Convergence Technologies (ACT) has gone for a rebranding as part of its exercise to create a national mother brand. Beam Fiber, the broadband service brand of Beam Telecom, will now be called ACT Fibernet. The announcement comes close on the heels of the new brand launch executed by ACT across all its markets spread across four states. Incidentally, the company had first adopted the new brand name in Bengaluru where the broadband service was known as ACT Broadband. ACT Group CEO Bala Malladi said, “The transformation of the brand Beam Fiber to ACT Fibernet is a significant stepping stone to building an integrated national brand for the company.” All Beam Fiber customers will be migrated from existing speeds to new higher speeds and higher data limits without any tariff change in the enterprise segment. A flagship enterprise product ‘Beam Fiber 11000’ has been introduced with 1 TB (Terra Bytes) data Limits. The company has also launched its flagship product “Incredible 100Mbps” with 200GB in the retail segment. The new plans of 5, 20 and 100 Mbps have been launched starting from Rs 650. The existing customers who are prevailing in 4 and 15 Mbps will be automatically upgraded to 5 and 20 Mbps from 1 April. Malladi said, “ACT is at the forefront of driving Internet consumption in India, not just in terms of growing the market but also changing the online user behaviour and enhancing the way users experience this medium. Today, Hyderabad is one of the highest internet penetrated cities in the country and we are glad to be a part of this transformation by only scaling up the fibre-optic way to deliver the service.” Beam Telecom is a 100 per cent subsidiary of ACT. From a humble sub-base of 30,000 in 2009, ACT has emerged as the single largest wired broadband service provider in the country after the telcos. It is the country’s fourth largest ISP in the wired broadband category. As reported by TelevisionPost.com earlier, the company is planning to invest Rs 500 crore (Rs 5 billion) and has set an ambitious target of reaching one million broadband subscribers within two years
