They have entered the auction separately..But the merger is also on the cards. Sony can buy the Digital for Sony Liv. They are not gonna pay now. After the merger, they will become a single entity and they can show IPL in Zee5 instead of Sony Liv.

That is post merger Scenerio, I am talking about Auction that is happening today..... If fancode buys package C and tomorrow they are taken over by Hotstar/ESPN then what is the point in raising the bid in Auction.... So this is Hypothetical

ZEE and Sony merger is almost confirmed. Even though this is hypothetical..the auction is for the next 5 years and this will be part of their post-merger plans. Zee can give the money to Sony and vice versa. Anything is possible behind the doors.
