If Sony has won the TV rights and Hotstar won the digital..Sony along with Zee might also take digital rights for Zee5 as Sony has the option to challenge the winner of B.
That is not possible since they have entered the Auction seperately and I'd Sony has won the TV rights then only they can challenge digital rights winner....

What if the surprise is that Star and Hotstar don't win any of the A and B rights.

A to Sony and B to Voot is the surprise.? or
A to Viacom18 and B to Hotstar is the surprise.?

I think most likely is the second scenario A to Viacom18 and B to Hotstar as per latest info A is challenging B

They have entered the auction separately..But the merger is also on the cards. Sony can buy the Digital for Sony Liv. They are not gonna pay now. After the merger, they will become a single entity and they can show IPL in Zee5 instead of Sony Liv.

Sony was not bidding for digital rights only Zee was competing with Disney and Viacom18

If they wont merge OTTs, then its a blunder mistake.
