Kohli's captaincy should not be measured based on IPL. He has won test series in down under and was very competitive in SA and England. Kohli has proved his captaincy in test series and ODI series.

Not talking about test, and regarding limited overs much of the time in pressure death overs he is seen protecting boundary so MSD is setting field most of the time. And it's on camera. You will only see him at toss and press conference.
