And here comes the 1st Controversy post team Auction.....

As expected Adani Group sure buy Ahmedabad franchise, also Adani Group Third highest bidder on IPL Team Auction

“I think two new IPL teams for sure. There cannot be a better time for the IPL to expand for the good of Indian cricket, for maximizing value, and for fans. It is absolutely the right time for the IPL to expand,” Gupta had stated about the expansion of the tournament.

“Over a ten-year period, maybe 12 teams. With 10 teams, it should expand by at least two and half weeks. With 12 teams potentially a month extra or maybe more than a month. A two-month tournament becomes a three, three, and half month tournament,” Gupta had revealed.

Gupta had also added that the IPL might follow in the footsteps of Major League Baseball and the National Basketball Association where regular season matches are held.

Now that BCCI knows teams can fetch upto 7000cr they may hold another auction for the new team to maximize revenue instead of giving it to third placed adani

7000 Cr is desperation bid and not practical to be replicated again, realestic pricing is somewhere between 5000-5500 Cr....

More then the pricing it is Adani failing to acquire Ahmedabad team despite BCCI Sectary....

Also note that despite quoting 7000Cr they had opted for Lucknow and not Ahmedabad fearing the consequences....

Its not the owner who made the choice to select Lucknow, BCCI themselves selected Lucknow for them..

Not really , RPSG had selected Lucknow.. Cricinfo got that part wrong actually. If you had watched BCCI's press conference or had watched any of the goenka's interviews he specifically stated that they wanted Lucknow for their business reasons.

Yes even after quoting the same amount for Ahemdabad, knowing very well that Stadium has bigger capacity/gate revenue opportunity then Lucknow, better flight connectivity and hospitality arrangements, better practice facilities for players.....

It makes great business sense not to select Ahmedabad over Lucknow!!!

To avoid a potential conflict-of-interest controversy, BCCI president Sourav Ganguly has decided to step down as director of ATK Mohun Bagan, the football team owned by RPSG Ventures Ltd, the Indian business conglomerate that on Monday bid a record INR 7,090 crore (USD 940 million approximately) to buy the Lucknow IPL franchise.
