RE: #IPL 10 | Match 51 #MIvKXIP | Scores & Updates
Mumbai Indians (Points 18; NRR +0.810) - QUALIFIED
Matches left: vs KKR, Kolkata, 13 May 2017
Where can they finish? 1 - 3
They are assured of a top two finish and a home Play Off game if they win their last league game against Kolkata. They may finish in the top two even if they lose their last league match by their superior net run rate (NRR) provided Rising Pune Supergiant lose at least one of their remaining games.
..
Kolkata Knight Riders (Points 16; NRR +0.729)
Matches left: vs MI, Kolkata, 13 May 2017
How can they qualify?
They are assured of a qualification if they win their last fixture which is against table toppers Mumbai. They are through even if they lose that match if either or both of Sunrisers Hyderabad and Kings XI lose the last game of theirs.
How can they get eliminated?
The only scenario of them not finishing in the top four is if they lose to Mumbai, then Sunrisers and Kings XI win their remaining games and Pune beats Delhi Daredevils. In that case, they will be tied at 16 points with Kings XI, who may pip them on NRR.
Where can they finish? 1 - 5
A win against Mumbai will assure them a top two finish if they win either with seven balls to spare (chasing 160) or by 11 runs (after posting 160). If they lose to Mumbai, their top two position will be dependent on the results of Pune, Sunrisers and Kings XI.
..
Rising Pune Supergiant (Points 16; NRR -0.060)
Matches left: vs KXIP, Pune, 14 May 2017; vs DD, Delhi, 12 May 2017
How can they qualify?
A win in either of their last two league games will see them through. They can go through even if they lose both if either Sunrisers or Kings XI lose their last match.
How can they get eliminated?
For Pune to get knocked out, they must lose against both Delhi as well as Kings XI while Sunrisers must beat Gujarat Lions and Kolkata should avert a heavy defeat against Mumbai. In such a scenario, they will be tied at 16 points with Kings XI and may be with Kolkata. A poor NRR of -0.060 will plunge further down and can lead to their exit.
Where can they finish? 1 - 5
They will finish in the top two if they win both their games. Even if they win only one, they can finish in the top two if Kolkata lose out to Mumbai.
..
Sunrisers Hyderabad (Points 15; NRR +0.565)
Matches left: vs GL, Kanpur, 13 May 2017
How can they qualify?
A win in their last match against the struggling Gujarat Lions will ensure their progress to the Play Offs. They are through even if they lose that match if Pune beat Kings XI.
How can they get eliminated?
If they lose against Gujarat and Kings XI beat Pune, Sunrisers will finish with 15 points and the defending champions will have to settle in for a fifth spot.
Where can they finish? 2 - 5
For them to finish in the top two, they not only have win their last match but also both Pune and Kolkata should lose all their remaining fixtures.
..
Kings XI Punjab (Points 14; NRR +0.296)
Matches left: vs RPS, Pune, 14 May 2017
How can they qualify?
For them to get through, they have to win their last league fixture against Pune and hope other results come their way. They play their last match only on Sunday (May 14) and will have the exact equation in front of them before the game.
How can they get eliminated?
Kings XI can be knocked out even before they play their next match if Pune, Hyderabad and Kolkata win their next fixtures lined up. In that case, Kings XI can finish with a maximum of 16 points, behind the three.
Where can they finish? 2 - 6
A top two finish for them looks highly unlikely at the moment. If either of Pune, Hyderabad or Kolkata win one more match, Kings XI cannot finish in the top two.
