By January 2019, India will have its first 2 'airport-like' railway stations - Gandhinagar & Habibganj

While Madhya Pradesh's Habibganj station will be ready by December, Gujarat's Gandhinagar station will be completed by January 2019, said S K Lohia, the Indian Railway Station Development Corporation (IRSDC) Managing Director and CEO.

The amenities at the station will include 600 additional waiting benches, cleaner toilets, retail areas, and Lohia said The IRSDC was exploring other ideas such as video-game zones, virtual museums.

The new-look Habibganj railway station will boast of a glass dome-like structure and have facilities such as food plazas and cafeterias and a plush waiting lounge.

Video raises doubts of toilet water being used for tea, coffee on train, Rs 1 lakh fine on contractor

“An inquiry was conducted, and on the basis of it stringent action has been taken up against the Train Side Vending contractor for the section between Secunderabad and Kazipet, P Sivaprasad, with whom the identified vendor in the video was employed... A penalty of Rs 1 lakh has been levied on the licensee, through the IRCTC, the contracting agency,” SCR chief public relations officer M Umashankar Kumar said in the release.
Two other people, who are unauthorised hawkers, are also seen in the video, he said.

A decision to carry out the trial with "push and pull" technique was taken at a railway committee meeting convened by Central Railway general manager D K Sharma.
WR's chief public relations officer Raviner Bhakar said, "Though the engine will be attached to the rear, its operations will be carried by the loco pilot in the front locomotive. We need technical upgrade for perfect synchronisation between the locomotives for speed and braking."
