This MDU-Chennai Tejas is a good for nothing Train. Instead of introducing "Train 18" which can cover the distance in just 4 hrs they have introduced this Tejas which covers the distance at 6.5 hrs at 4 times the cost than current Vaigai AC Chair Car which covers the same distance at 7-7.5 hrs max at just Rs 600.

Even if they introduce 2 more Vaigai trains at 6 AM & 6 PM it will still run full house due to heavy demand. But why care for some southern TN state?

Now no flight users will travel as this is a slow train and no normal users will travel as its 4 times costlier for no good so eventually this train is going to run empty. May be they just want to introduce something and later claim that people dont want better quality trains when infact it travels no faster than a car.

May be Vande Bharat will come to TN after 5 or 6 or 10 yrs when they replace the current fleet with new ones.

T-18 is a prototype , a first of its kind so it needs few years of testing before introducing in mass scale whereas LHB coaches and WAP5/7 are tested over last decade so it's a safe bet.

And regarding heavy demand you are saying as if rush is only in TN, look everywhere all trains are running full. It's a result of decade of under investment as we build only 10k km tracks after independence where as British built 50k km, At east TN has rail and metro, many states in north east got first rail connectivity only last year.

Why Govt. Not changing Indian Railway System

It's changing but Govt cannot hep if you don't buy tickets and wants free ride. Now a days many seats goes vacant in trains or even waiting list of more than 100 got confirmed even during huge rush like Kumbha mela this year in my experience. And no one will take responsibility of unreserved passengers in reserved coaches as if something got stolen during night sleep then you cannot trace un-reserved passengers. So no point in blaming reserved passengers.

Updates :
