According to a press release issued by Central Railways, train number 22221/22222, namely the Mumbai-Hazrat Nizamuddin AC bi-weekly Rajdhani Express will now run through push-pull mode with one electric engine in the front and the other at the rear end of the train.
This method will provide the extra power needed to accelerate and decelerate, hence boosting the speed. Apart from improving engine acceleration, it will also render a better turnaround time.
The converted electric locomotive delivers 10,000 HP against 2 X 2612 HP of two diesel locomotive (92 percent more power). A 10,000 HP of haulage power is adequate to haul a load up to nearly 5300 Tonnes, providing around 2:1 HP to trailing load ratio.
Nodal officers nominated to each of the 36 stations will devise an action plan with verifiable indicators within one month to achieve the target. Among other prominent railway stations shortlisted for the scheme are New Delhi, Mumbai Central, Howrah, Allahabad, Lucknow, Guwahati, Secunderabad, Visakhapatnam, Bhubaneswar, Pune, Mysuru and Jaipur.

New trains 2019: Train No. 22672/22671 Tejas Express between Madurai and Chennai Egmore has been flagged off by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Tamil Nadu
New trains 2019: Train No. 22672/22671 Tejas Express between Madurai and Chennai Egmore has been flagged off by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Tamil Nadu
This MDU-Chennai Tejas is a good for nothing Train. Instead of introducing "Train 18" which can cover the distance in just 4 hrs they have introduced this Tejas which covers the distance at 6.5 hrs at 4 times the cost than current Vaigai AC Chair Car which covers the same distance at 7-7.5 hrs max at just Rs 600.
Even if they introduce 2 more Vaigai trains at 6 AM & 6 PM it will still run full house due to heavy demand. But why care for some southern TN state?
Now no flight users will travel as this is a slow train and no normal users will travel as its 4 times costlier for no good so eventually this train is going to run empty. May be they just want to introduce something and later claim that people dont want better quality trains when infact it travels no faster than a car.
May be Vande Bharat will come to TN after 5 or 6 or 10 yrs when they replace the current fleet with new ones.
