My i3 with 6 G RAM 8 years old machine(came with Vista installed) is running fast on Windows 10 with normal HDD. Your system should run fine. What antivirus are you running ? Antivirus is a major cause of slow down.

Just upgrade your HDD to Samsung SSD instead of investing money on Win 7 license if you are still not happy with performance and clean install Win 10 creaters update on SSD. Use your current HDD as a back up external drive using a HDD case.

Samsung Evo series SSD will be enough for daily usage
i am using preinstalled mc affee antivirus. i just uninstalled it after reding ur reply.

Nodoby uses Mcafee these days even if they give it free. Stick with Windows defender. Make sure you are on Windows 10 version 1703 install all latest updates

ya bro now on windows denfender. and and on version 1703 lets c if antivirus makes any difference.
yesterday for transfer of 100 gb from one drive to another drive it took 1 hour. ridiculous

100 GB at 1 hour so 28 MB per sec transfer speed is not bad for a mechanical hard drive. Processor, RAM or OS cannot help you much as they are restricted by mechanical hard drives rotation speed. Only option is SSD

actually @Sarkar bro 28 mbps is far far better speed and no one should expect any higher in i3 kind such low range config as in my case for low end server test based on apache web server and it's config i am having highest possible config on i3 processor for test server in my pc.
my config is
core i3 4th gen 4130 @ 3.40 ghz clock speed
1TB HDD
16 GB DDR 3 RAM
os : windows 10 pro(red stone 1)

although intel made my pc not compatible after threshold 1 release.

my avg clock speed lands between 19 mbps to 37 mbps in sata 3.0 pin & 24 mbps to 46 mbps in sata 6.0 pin @ processor temp of 75 degree in average. although my config is for desktop no one should expect to take more load in laptop also as reaching above 80 degree processor temp will damage it to the core.
