BCCI hails Dhoni’s idea of a 3 day test finish
After yet another overseas loss and that too within 3 days, Indian fans across the world are devastated. Vaasu Jhakmaare, an ardent cricket follower could not bear this loss and had to be admitted to the Lilavati hospital due to acute depression.
But even in such times of trouble, Mahendra Singh Dhoni unanimously crowned as the best ever Indian skipper can up with a revelation, a thought that could have only crossed a genius’ mind. During the post match conference, Dhoni surprised all by stating that it was nice that the match ended within 3 days, providing players ample time to ‘REST.’
While a few ignorable former cricketers condemned the skipper’s thoughts, the B.C.C.I seems to have taken the comment quite seriously and is actually trying to finish off games within 3 days. If sources are to be believed, then the present I.C.C Chairman, Mr. N Srinivasan who is also the unofficial owner of the B.C.C.I had a chat with selectors last night on the issue.
Says Rajeev Shukla, “This is actually a great idea. Now if we have a five test series and all the test matches end before a couple of days, then maybe we can host a mini IPL during the gap. Anyways who’s interested in this ×Test bullsh*t? Till date I have not been fully able to comprehend the complex rules of follow on and the new ball rule. It’s all too weird and absurd.”
Sources from the camp tell us that, Srinivasan, whose relations with the skipper have soured over the last week or so, after the former’s judgement in the Jadeja – Anderson spat raised this step to break the ice with his best mate and confidant. Srinivasan parceled specially made Litti – Chokha by Dhanbad’s Verma Ji placate Dhoni to which Dhoni replied by sending Idli stickers on LINE (free talk time is always coveted).
Meanwhile the selection committee headed by Sandeep Patil, has already started devising plans to execute this path breaking idea. Internal sources say that Ishant Sharma might be anointed as the new vice captain of the side as then it would not be easy to drop him. Virat Kohli, although through persistent efforts has managed to perform extra ordinarily poor in the present series, but the selectors believe that he needs to focus to worsen his Test standards.
Harsha Bhogle commented, “The real problem with Virat is that he tends to regain his concentration just when he’s on the way of self destructing. It happened earlier when he lost his form when he learnt ‘Ladki Pataane Ke Do Tareeke.’ I just hope that this time he fools around long enough with Anushka.”
Meanwhile Rajib Biswal, the current Chairman of the I.P.L is in discussions with the I.P.L franchises over the possibility of a T-10 tournament. Ad guru Prahlad Kakkar seems excited as the players would now get more time to endorse their respective brands. While Rohit Sharma is guaranteed a spot in all 3 formats now, Bhuwaneshwar Kumar, India’s stand out performer in the series so far might be dropped from the side. Ratnakar Shetty is in discussions with Shahid Afridi who might be appointed as India’s next batting coach while Duncan Fletcher for his inspiring coaching has been granted another extension for 10 years.
The Indian Test Team for the next test match has been announced:
M.S.Dhoni ©, Rohit Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan, Vinod Kambli, Md. Kaif, R.P.Singh, Munaf Patel, Md. Shami, Ravindra Jadeja, Stuart Binny, R. Ashwin.
M.S –“We couldn’t risk playing Ishant. He’s been unable to consistently be below par.”
