PATNA: The RJD, which has 24
members in Bihar assembly, on
Sunday reaffirmed its support to JD
(U) legislature party leader Nitish
Kumar and said he would succeed in
taking further the RJD chief Lalu
Prasad's agenda of strengthening
secular forces in Bihar.
"We in RJD firmly believe that Nitish
Kumar will be successful in
extending further Lalu Prasad's
attempts to strengthen and unite
secular forces in the state. Kumar
will also ensure all-round
development of the state, besides
implementing special welfare
schemes for the progress of dalits,
Mahadalits, backwards and
minorities as part of social justice
scheme of the grand alliance," RJD
spokesperson Ejaz Ahmad said.
Earlier in the day, dozens of RJD
functionaries, led by its state
president Ram Chandra Purbey,
called on Kumar at the latter's
residence here to congratulate him
on being elected as JD (U) LP leader.
Purbey also handed over a bouquet
to Kumar on behalf of the RJD.
Purbey said Nitish Kumar being a
very experienced politician, would
not only thwart the BJP's bid to
create political instability in Bihar
but also push the state to achieve
new heights on the development
front.
