sentenced Vikas Yadav and his
cousin Vishal Yadav to 30 years in
prison for the murder of Nitish
Katara, a friend of Vikas Yadav's
sister, saying they "do not deserve to
remission of the life sentence
imposed on them".

The Reserve Bank of India's (RBI)
foreign exchange reserves rose to an
all-time high of $327.88 billion for
the week ending January 30, 2014,
shows RBI data released Friday. The
rise in reserves were one of the
sharpest as it rose by $5.85 billion
during the week. The reserves had
risen by $6.7 billion in the week
ending July 1, 2011.
Foreign currency assets, a key
component of reserves rose by $5.81
billion to $303.33 billion. Gold
reserves remained unchanged during
the week at $19.38 billion.

Arvind Kejriwal's Aam Aadmi
Party has rejected a vote appeal
in its favour by leading Muslim
cleric Syed Ahmed Bukhari, which
has also led to another wordy
duel between the party and its
main rival, the BJP, hours before
Delhi votes.
"AAP has nothing to do with
Bukhari. We don't need the
support of a man who did not
invite India's prime minister but
invited Pakistan's PM on his
son's anointment. One has to
respect the Prime Minister of the
country," said AAP's Ashutosh.
He said AAP was "fighting to end
communal politics of the kind the
Imam stands for."
 
In a dramatic development,
Bihar chief minister Jitan Ram
Manjhi on Saturday appealed to
governor Keshari Nath Tripathi to
dissolve the state assembly in the
wake of the political deadlock in the
state.
State finance minister Bijendra
Yadav said Jitan Ram Manjhi
proposed dissolution of Bihar
assembly at the Cabinet meeting,
getting the support of 7 ministers,
and opposed by 21 pro-Nitish Kumar
ministers.
The Bihar governor accepted CM
Jitan Ram Manjhi's recommendation
to sack P K Shahi and Rajiv Ranjan
Singh 'Lallan'.
Manjhi had sent a recommendation
to Keshari Nath Tripathi to sack the
two state cabinet ministers, who are
reportedly close to Nitish Kumar and
are also supporting the removal of
Manjhi from his chief ministerial
post.
Earlier, Manjhi, who has been
defying the party leadership's
directive of resigning, drove to the
residence of his mentor Nitish Kumar
with whom he has been locked in
tussle.
JD(U) president Sharad Yadav, who
has called a meeting of JD(U)
legislature party later in the day,
was also present.
Senior pro-Manjhi ministers
Narendra Singh and Brishen Patel
accompanied the chief minister in
his car.
 
V. Rajani of Kerala won Kerala's 15th
gold in the National Games by
emerging as the winner in the 72 KM
Road Mass start event this morning.
Himarani of Haryana won silver and
Anjita T.P of Kerala bagged the
bronze.

New Delhi: With balloting in a
fiercely contested Assembly elections
in the national capital ending on
Saturday, both Aam Aadmi Party
(AAP) and Bharatiya Janata Party
(BJP) claim they are poised to win as
over 70 percent electorate cast their
votes with enthusiasm to elect a new
government here, a year after Arvind
Kejriwal resigned after being the
chief minister for 49 tumultuous
days.
From a triangular contest last time,
the battle now is being seen directly
between the AAP and BJP, with
Congress a mere spectator in the
polls.
Here are the live updates -
ABP News-Nielsen​ has projected
majority for AAP with 39 seats
and BJP+ winning 28, while
Congress only 3 seats.
According to Times Now-C-Voter,
AAP is likely to win 31 to 39
seats, coming second to it is BJP
+ with 27 to 35 seats in its kitty.
Congress, predicted by the survey
will manage only 2 to 4 seats in
Delhi.
India Today-Cicero exit poll
predicts AAP close to getting
majority bagging 35 to 43 seats,
while BJP+ appears to be winning
23 to 29 seats and Congress
facing another drubbing getting
only 3 to 5 seats.
According to C-Voter exit poll,
Aam Aadmi Party is likely to
emerge as the single largest
party.
