NEW DELHI: On a day when the BJP
suffered a humiliating defeat in
Delhi, only three of their candidates
managed to pull of a win amidst an
AAP wave.
The three are Jagdish Pradhan
(Mustafabad), Vijender Kumar
(Rohini) and Om Prakash Sharma
(Vishwas Nagar). Prime Minister
Narendra Modi campaigned at two of
these places: Rohini and Vishwas
Nagar.
While Pradhan defeated the
Congress by 6,031 votes, Kumar and
Sharma overcame the Aam Aadmi
Party challenge with margins of
5,367 and 10,158 votes respectively.
All other 67 BJP candidates —
including its chief ministerial
candidate Kiran Bedi — lost to th

Adarsh Shastri will be given key
posts in the government.

NEW DELHI: The income tax
department on Wednesday sent a
notice to Aam Aadmi Party over
allegations that AAP was indulging in
money laundering.
On February 2, AAP's breakaway
volunteer group AVAM had alleged
that AAP, in the name of election
funding, was indulging in money
laundering.
 
LUCKNOW: Swine flu cases are on

RANCHI: Six legislators of the
Jharkhand Vikas Morcha
(Prajatantrik) on Tuesday wrote to
the assembly speaker about their
decision to join the BJP and
"contribute to the development of
the state". They will formally join
the saffron party in a couple of days.
"I have got a letter from six JVM(P)
MLAs who want to join the BJP. They
have requested me to get seating
arrangements for them in the
treasury benches," Jharkhand
speaker Dinesh Oraon said.
The JVM(P) MLAs will be immune to
the anti-defection law as two-third
of the JVM(P) MLAs (six of the eight)
are quitting.
