In simplest terms it is time taken to send a data packet from source to destination or vice versa/how fast we are able to connect to a particular webpage and how fast it is able to respond

Doesn't has much effect on internet use but is necessary in multiplayer games like CS,Battlefield,COD etc,generally a very low ping ensures smooth gaming experience usually lag free,but in ping what I get it is difficult to play CS and Battlefield :damn
