Dwayne Bravo, Kieron Pollard left out of West Indies World Cup squad: Reports

Former West Indies One-Day
International captain, Dwayne Bravo,
and hard-hitting all-rounder, Kieron
Pollard, have been left out of West
Indies' squad for ICC Cricket World
Cup 2015 according to a tweet from
Dinanath Ramnarine, former West
Indies legspinner and former
President of the West Indies Players
Association (WIPA).

The West Indies Cricket Board(WICB)
have yet to officially announce their
15-man squad for the quadrennial
event but Ramnarine's tweet on
Thursday, only fuelled further
speculations surrounding the absence
of these two senior players from the
big event in Australia-New Zealand.

Bravo and Pollard are currently
involved in the T20 series away at
South Africa.

Last month, the selection panel
headed by Clive Lloyd, had dropped
Bravo, Pollard and Darren Sammy
from the five-match ODI series
versus South Africa, following
contractual disputes involving the
players, the board and the players'
association.

More to follow...

Confirmed Bravo and Pollard
are both out of the 2015 WC.
The WICB has the full support
of the TTCB, so well done to
both WICB and TTCB.

Tom Latham and Grant Elliott named in New Zealand WC squad

The Black Caps have announced a
strong 15-man squad for the
upcoming World Cup, to be jointly
co-hosted by Australia and New
Zealand, starting from February 14th.

There were no major surprises
although batsman, Grant Elliott, was
preferred ahead of the all-round
abilities of James Neesham.

Black Caps coach, Mike Hesson,
made the announcement at the
Hagley Oval, Christchurch. Speaking
about the composition of the team,
Hesson said it all went down towards
finding the right balance. "There
were some hard decisions to make,
but were pleased with the overall 15
we've chosen," said Hesson.

"A lot of bowlers have performed
brilliantly for us over the past couple
of seasons, which certainly made it
difficult, but we think we have the
right mix.Our batting unit has good
depth and Grants' inclusion assures
us strong cover in the middle order.

He brings a lot of experience and his
record in New Zealand and Australia
conditions is excellent," he added.
New Zealand, tipped as one of the
strong pre-tournament favourites, get the World Cup rolling, taking on Sri Lanka in the first match at the Hagley Oval, Christchurch.

Michael Clarke to lead Australia in ICC Cricket World Cup 2015

Australia have announced their final
15-man squad for the World Cup
starting in February. Michael Clarke,
who is recovering from hamstring
surgery, has been named as the
skipper of the team but he has been
given a fitness deadline. If Clarke
fails to recover before Australia's
second league game against
Bangladesh in Brisbane, he will be
replaced in the squad and George
Bailey will lead the side. Should
Clarke fail the fitness Test, the most
likely candidate to replace him in the
squad will be Shaun Marsh.

Speaking about the selection,
National Selection Panel chairman
Rod Marsh said Clarke is one of the
best batsman in the world and the
selectors wanted to give him every
chance to prove his fitness before
the big tournament. He further said,
"Our medical staff are pleased with
his progress following hamstring
surgery in December and he
continues to undergo thorough
rehabilitation work with a view to
being ready to play an important role
in the World Cup. We have said that
if Michael has not recovered by our
second match of the tournament
against Bangladesh on 21 February,
we will replace him in the squad. He
understands that and is working
tirelessly with medical staff to get
back to fitness."

Sunil Narine included in West
Indies World Cup squad

West Indies Cricket Board (WICB), on
Sunday, announced the 15-man
squad for the ICC Cricket World Cup
2015. Former skipper, Dwayne Bravo
and hard-hitting all-rounder, Kieron
Pollard were the notable absentees
in the Jason Holder-led squad.

Darren Sammy, who was initially left-
out of the ODI series against South
Africa, however, found a place in the
side. Senior-batsmen, Marlon
Samuels, was named Holder's
deputy.

The Clive Lloyd-led selection
committee included spin wizard, Sunil
Narine, despite the spinner getting
reported for a suspect action during
the Champions League T20 while
playing for the IPL side, Kolkata
Knight Riders. Narine, who then
pulled out of the ODI series against
India, is only suspended from
bowling in BCCI-organized
tournaments and can feature for his
national side.
