Now we can rent movies directly from Prime Video on Android TV. Earlier we were told to make payment on Amazon website in browser and then come back to TV. Credit cards stored in Google Play are used, not the ones you have in Amazon.

Note: Apple TV app on Android TV still requires you to make payment on iPhone or iTunes on PC. No way to rent directly on Android TV.

You can only subscribe on TV.apple.com website. You cannot rent movies.

If you don't have any Apple device like iPhone or iPad, only way to rent movies is from iTunes software on PC.

After renting from iTunes, you can watch on Apple TV app library in Android TV or Fire TV.

By "other streaming devices" they mean Apple TV box and Roku. It is not possible to make payments directly on Android TV or Fire TV devices.

Ambani is the blueprint.

Ads > Subscription

Ambani is the blueprint.

Ads > Subscription
😂why some people always uses his name he is not only the mastermind in the entire world …
Don’t make him another god 😂
This ad thing is very old in OTT world youtube is the best example of it even u only want ot compare OTTs with original rather than public Hulu is the best
In fact , amazon is not new to ads in Ott they already have freeve (IMDb Tv )
even in india mx player is another best example
And u need to one thing bro ads and subscription both will stay even TV business
They are Ad free channels which have less sub base but still good value for both subscribers and content providers
Even the regular channels need subscription which contains ads
This thing same for entire world not only for India
Look at BARC ratings pay channels get higher viewership than free ones
HBO,MTV,ESPN this channels are more famous ,more revenues, more subs; than some weather channel's

Ambani from jio is just hyped because he can spend his giving and attracting subs and start charging low and selling ads simple I am not saying it is wrong it is his strategy
This free thing is just for time sake it can’t stay forever
What if some other which has more spending power than Reliance starts new telecom company in India and again giving for free and charges lower than Jio will Jio sustain that no because most of the jio subs who are happy because they are getting it for cheap they are very less people who are happy because quality service from Jio .
Simply google, meta , apple this are one of the big companies but people hate google and meta than apple because they are getting quality service products for the price and apple is getting revenues but when we compare google and meta people mostly hate them of course still use them but if an alternative their they will shift easily than when we compare with apple customers even in USA iMessage is more famous than WhatsApp because they have more apple users and they believe in apple for privacy concerns
Either jio need charge more at sometime soon or charge and sell ads and user data to get revenues if they chose second of course they will get money people use it but people shift easily when they can afford or better alternative available

I did not think the word ‘Ambani’ would elicit such a response.

Jio revolutionized the Indian Telecom Industry. Agree?

You do know they make profit right?

They make 4500Cr+ each quarter in just profits alone.

Along with it, India became one of the largest digital market in the world right next to China. But what India didn’t have so far is a clear data set of affluent consumer base. Jio is single-handedly creating an advertising industry for this specific target group. I work in programmatic advertising. This CTV customer base will be huge in the next few years.

Viacom18 Sports Head has said it multiple times that they don’t plan on having Sports behind a paywall. That’s how they can recoup their investment partially but major share will be from CTV ads.

Smartphone Users - 400-600M
Wired Broadband - 30-35M

Jio plans to target 80-100M smartphone users and 25-30M CTV users. While linear is not declining rapidly in India like the US but that is where we will be going. We’re 10 years behind US most of the time.

Why are we talking about US? Because Sports has always been bundled along with other cable channels in the US. And now that linear is practically dying they don’t have another medium to monetise the sports property. Disney is struggling to launch ESPN+ mainly because of this. Amazon is streaming TNF (NFL) at a loss. Even in the UK and EU, companies like Sky, TNT Sports - Warner Bros. Discovery (formerly BT Sport), Viaplay, DAZN don’t have a viable business model for streaming. Warner Bros. Discovery is doing it with Eurosports in the UK but they’re niche rights. Nobody has developed a platform to shift the ad inventory from linear television to streaming completely.

That is what Mukesh Ambani and Uday Shankar are planning to achieve. Or that’s what I am assuming. Uday Shankar has said in a recent interview that their competition is television. Great. We can defeat television if cable companies start offering internet connection through their distribution network. Cable companies like Comcast and Charter are doing exactly that in the US.

I am not a blind right wing enthusiast to support Ambani.
