What is Sandes app?

Sandes app is India's answer to WhatsApp. It has been developed indigenously with features similar to modern-day messaging platforms. That said, Sandes wasn't the preferred choice of name for the app. Ever since the Centre revealed its plans to develop a WhatsApp-like messaging platform last year, it was expected to be called GIMS, an abbreviation for Government Instant Messaging System.

Amidst the growing controversy over privacy around the world-famous messaging app Whatsapp , the central government is making its native version of the messaging app. Sources in the Ministry of Electronics and Information and Technology (MeITY) have confirmed to NDTV that two such apps are being tested in beta phase. They are named Samvad and Sandes, which literally means "conversation" and "message".

A ministry official said, "This app is being developed entirely by the Government of India. It is an instant messaging service app like WhatsApp." NDTV has also come to know that the government is also planning for a separate app called GIMS - Government Instant Messaging Service - which will only be used by Indian government employees for mutual communication.

On one hand we wanna privatize and then this.
I prefer a strong data protection law than govt poking it's nose into unnecessary ventures. Even if it's a govt app...that doesn't guarantee data theft, misuse and privacy. So a proper data protection law is a must weather app is made by private or govt. Start there. Look at Europe.

This is developed by government? How can this is possible? The interface looks good and smooth. How is the in app experience? Any bug you saw?
No Bugs it has a nice options of 3 Tags of Confidential n other 2 when sending a message we can tag it n send so that we find easily next time . Aslo its has Video & Audio Call both are working well no buffering. Messages are end to end encrypted.
