BSNL gets 1 lakh additional 13 digit M2M numbering series in Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu LSAs

The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) today accepted the request from state-owned Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) for allocation of 1 lakh additional 13 digit M2M numbering series in Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu LSAs. DoT has accepted and allocated 13 digit M2M numbering series with the approval of the competent authority today.

DoT noted that all the new clients for M2M services must be provided only 13-digit M2M numbering series. BSNL has been allocated ‘575’ M2M Identifier 3 digits and Licensee Identifier 4-digits (10000 blocks) ‘2005’ for Andhra Pradesh and ‘2185’ for Tamil Nadu (including Chennai).

M2M SIMs are used for controlling various IoT devices such as surveillance cameras, child-tracking devices, smart electric meters, household appliances, monitors, sensors, and other smart devices. M2M SIMs are also used to transform car models into smart cars.

Machine-to-Machine (M2M) SIM cards connect machines with internet using dedicated M2M services with devices able to send and receive data across cellular networks.

so MVNO surftel wanted to expand and thus bsnl got new M2M numbers.
