Meta-owned instant messaging service WhatsApp has released a redesigned native app for MacOS users. The app also brings enhanced video and audio calling and now supports up to eight members in a group video session and up to 32 members in an audio call.
“With the new WhatsApp app for Mac, you can now make group calls from your Mac for the first time, connecting with up to eight people on video calls and up to 32 people on audio calls. Now you can join a group call after it’s started, see your call history, and choose to receive incoming call notifications even when the app is closed,” the company stated in a blog post.
Moreover, the native WhatsApp app on MacOS now allows users to drag and drop files into the chat, and users can also view more chat history than before. According to the company, the redesigned WhatsApp app provides a familiar look and feel to Mac users, which helps users use the app efficiently on a larger screen.
The company also assures that the WhatsApp for Mac keeps users messages and calls private and secure across devices with the end-to-end encryption. The new redesigned WhatsApp is now available to download from the WhatsApp website and via the MacOS App Store.
