WhatsApp View Once voice messages feature

Meta-owned Instant messaging app WhatsApp introduced the View Once feature for photos and videos in 2021. Now, the messaging platform is expanding the View Once feature to voice messages. View Once messages are marked with a one-time icon and can be accessed only a single time.

“For reading out your credit card details to a friend, or when you’re planning a surprise, you can now also share sensitive information over voice message with added peace of mind. For consistency with View Once photos and videos, View Once voice messages are clearly marked with the “one-time” icon and can only be played one time,” the company said in a blog post.

To send a View Once voice message on WhatsApp, users need to open a chat and tap and hold the microphone icon in the bottom-right corner of the text box. Then, swipe up to lock the recording, and tap on and hold the record. After that, tap the View Once icon and tap Send after recording the message.

WhatsApp messages are end-to-end encrypted, and the View Once feature adds another level of privacy to chat messages. View Once voice messages feature is rolling out globally and will be available to all WhatsApp users over the coming days.
