Meta-owned instant messaging app WhatsApp has added a new privacy feature for its users that allows you to hide details like profile pictures, last seen and status updates from specific selected contacts.
Until now, users had three privacy options: everyone, my contacts and nobody to show your details to everyone, only saved contacts and no one respectively. The company has now added an additional option called “My contacts except”.
By selecting this option, users can choose the specific contacts from whom they want to hide their details. Do note that hiding anything from a person will affect both parties and you won’t be able to see their details as well irrespective of their privacy preference.
To hide profile pictures, last seen and About info from particular people, users have to open WhatsApp, open the menu by tapping three dots on the top right corner and tap on ‘Settings’. Now Go to the Account > Privacy and choose to whom your details should be visible.
Earlier, WhatsApp had announced new features for Group calls on that platform. WhatsApp group calls now allow to mute and message specific people. During large group calls, users will also see a banner when someone joins offscreen.
