Reliance Jio has partnered with AeroMobile to provide in-flight connectivity. Jio has launched three new in-flight connectivity (IFC) packs which will be applicable with 22 partner airlines. Jio has also brought in new value packs with Wi-Fi calling, boosting its international roaming plans portfolio. The new plans will available at the dispense of both prepaid and postpaid Jio customers.
Jio’s Rs 499 IFC pack will offer 250 MB data, 100 minutes outgoing voice calls along with 100 SMS. The pack offers a validity of 24 hours from the time of activation on the AeroMobile network. Jio’s Rs 699 IFC pack will offer 500 MB data, 100 minutes outgoing voice calls along with 100 SMS. The pack also offers a validity of 24 hours. Jio’s Rs 999 IFC pack offers 1 GB data, 100 minutes outgoing voice calls along with 100 SMS. This pack also comes with a validity of 24 hours. ET Telecom was the first to report the new in-flight connectivity plans earlier today.
The pack benefits are only applicable to AeroMobile’s Partner Airlines and destinations. Voice calling service is only available in select Airlines while data and SMS services are available in all of the Partner Airlines. The packs do not allow incoming calls while incoming SMSes are free of cost. If the subscriber boards 2 connecting flights within the 24-hour duration since the activation on AeroMobile network and both flights have AeroMobile network then it will be counted in the same pack.
Jio Value Packs with Wi-Fi Calling
Jio has also rolled out two value packs with a Wi-Fi calling facility. Jio’s Rs 1102 value pack offers IR Talktime of Rs 933.90 and 5 ISD SMS bundled, with applicable country-specific IR calling and texting tariffs. The pack is applicable for more than 100 countries with a validity of 28 days. Jio’s Rs 1202 value pack offers IR Talktime of Rs 1018.64 and 5 ISD SMS bundled, with applicable country-specific IR calling and texting tariffs. While the validity is also the same at 28 days the pack is applicable for more than 170 countries.
Wi-Fi calling facility is only applicable for calls made back to India and is chargeable at Rs.1/min, while incoming calls on Wi-Fi can be received from anywhere at Rs.1/min. Outgoing SMS are not supported over Wi-Fi though incoming SMS are delivered without any charge. Video calling to India is supported only to Jio numbers and will be charged at Rs.1/min along with applicable data deduction from the data balance of the base pack. If you were to use to Jio’s Rs 1202 IR pack on iPhone then the Wi-Fi calling facility will be limited to select countries.
