Telecom service provider Vodafone Idea (Vi) has announced the launch of its 5G services in Patna and Chandigarh as a part of its initial 5G rollout phase. Starting April 28, 2025, Vi prepaid and postpaid customers with 5G-compatible handsets in these cities can access high-speed 5G connectivity.
Vi has collaborated with Samsung to roll out its 5G network in Patna and Chandigarh. The company incorporated energy-efficient infrastructure and vRan technology to improve network flexibility and performance. Additionally, Vi has deployed an AI-based Self-Organizing Network (SON) system to further optimize network performance.
For the unaware, the telco launched its 5G services in Mumbai last month. According to the company, over 70 percent of eligible users in Mumbai are experiencing Vi 5G services, which is contributing to up to 20 percent of the city’s total data traffic.
Furthermore, Vi also deployed 5G services across 11 major cricket stadiums in India, enabling users to experience high-speed mobile internet during the ongoing T20 IPL matches. The telecom provider also plans to roll out its 5G services to Delhi and Bangaluru in May 2025. “The rollout in these circles will continue to align with the growth in 5G handset penetration and demand for the service,” said Vi in a statement.
As a part of its introductory offer, Vi is offering unlimited 5G data on plans starting from Rs. 299 and above. Eligible users with 5G handsets can enjoy high-speed mobile internet at no extra cost.
