Vodafone Idea (Vi), India’s third-largest telecom service provider, has announced the launch of its 5G services in Bengaluru. Vi users in the city with 5G-enabled devices can now experience high-speed 5G services, including faster downloads, lower latency, seamless streaming, and real-time cloud access. As a special introductory offer, Vi is providing unlimited 5G data to customers on plans priced at Rs. 299 or higher.
“We’re excited to bring Vi 5G to Bengaluru, a city that stands at the forefront of tech and digital innovation. With our next-gen 5G and enhanced 4G network, we aim to deliver enhanced experience to our users. Encouraged by the strong response and robust performance in our launched markets, we are committed to expanding our 5G footprint in line with growing demand and 5G handset adoption,” said Anand Dani, Business Head of Vodafone Idea, Karnataka.
To enhance the 5G experience, the telecom provider has partnered with Samsung to deploy advanced, energy-efficient infrastructure alongside AI-powered Self-Organizing Networks (SON) for optimized network performance. By integrating high-transmit-power, multi-technology-supported, energy-efficient, small-form-factor radios, Vi has enabled green solutions to ensure a seamless 5G experience for its customers in Bengaluru.
Moreover, Vi has enhanced its 4G network across Karnataka to deliver broader coverage, faster connectivity, and an improved user experience. The company has deployed the 900 MHz spectrum across nearly 3000 sites to strengthen indoor coverage, doubled the 2100 MHz spectrum at 1800 sites, and expanded the 2100 MHz spectrum to an additional 1000 locations.
Additionally, Vi has reinforced its 1800 MHz capacity across more than 4100 sites, improving both reach and data traffic capabilities. According to Vi, these upgrades were implemented over 10 months and have resulted in a 46 percent increase in network capacity since March 2024, reaffirming the company’s commitment to providing consistent, high-quality connectivity.
For the unaware, Vi recently rolled out 5G services in Mumbai, Delhi-NCR, Patna, and Chandigarh, and the company plans to expand 5G services to all 17 circles by August this year.
