The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has directed access providers to implement the Telecom Commercial Communications Customer Preference Regulations (TCCCPR), 2018 within 30 days from 19th June.
The regulator has asked the access providers to ensure minimum performance requirements for dealing with the request for assigning of a new header to a principal entity. It noted that the registration of the principal entity should be approved within seven days from the date of submission of all relevant details. The deficiencies if any in the application needs to be conveyed within three days with the header being assigned to the registered entity or rejected with valid reason within 2 days from the date on which the request was made.
The access providers have also been told to publish the latest list of PEs registered on DLT on their website, with the latest list of all headers associated with a particular PE and facilitate its customer to fetch the information through SMS.
The access providers have been further told to ensure that the service agreements delegate roles to entities and assigning of headers as per the regulations with no role being delegated to the entity which is not in accordance with the provisions of the regulations.
TRAI has further directed an awareness campaign for principal entities to get registered. The campaign is to be run on social media on its own or in collaboration with other access providers. The same is to be done within fifteen days from 19th June.
