Reliance Jio, at the Annual General Meeting (AGM) 2023, announced the launch of the Jio AirFiber, a wireless high-speed internet solution based on 5G technology. The company first unveiled the Jio AirFiber at AGM 2022, and now it will be available from September 19, 2023, which also coincides with Ganesh Chaturthi. Jio AirFiber will offer high-speed fiber-like internet speeds to users without cables through the standalone Jio True5G technology.
At the AGM 2023, Reliance Industries chairman Mukesh Ambani said, “Jio AirFiber uses our pan-India 5G network and advanced wireless technologies to bypass the need for last-mile fiber. Through optical fiber, we can currently connect around 15,000 premises daily, but with Jio AirFiber, we can supercharge this expansion with up to 1,50,000 connections per day. This is a 10-fold increase, expanding our addressable market over the next three years to over 200 million high-paying homes and premises.”
The service will work with the Jio AirFiber Home Gateway device, which users can plug into any power source and will act as a Wi-Fi hotspot. Further, AirFiber will use the Jio standalone True5G technology to deliver high-speed internet services. The device will also work with the Jio Home app to allow users to manage, grant, and restrict Wi-Fi access on other devices.
Moreover, Reliance Jio will provide an AI-powered quality monitoring feature that can automatically optimize the Wi-Fi network based on usage patterns and prevent most issues. Reliance Jio is yet to announce the pricing and the plan details of the Jio AirFiber.
