India’s one of the leading telecom service providers, Reliance Jio, has discontinued its Rs. 119 prepaid plan. It was the cheapest prepaid plan the telco offered for its smartphone users. The company may have scrapped the Rs. 119 plan to boost its average revenue per user (ARPU), which is crucial for profitability. The base prepaid plan now starts at Rs. 149 and comes with a validity of 20 days.
To recall, the Jio Rs. 119 prepaid plan was introduced in late 2021 after the tariff hike. The plan offered unlimited voice calls, 1.5GB of daily data, and 100 SMS per day. It came with 14 days of validity. With the discontinuation of the Rs. 119 plan, the base prepaid plan now starts at Rs. 149.
Here are the details of the Jio Rs. 149 prepaid plan.
The Jio Rs. 149 prepaid plan offers unlimited calls, 1GB of daily data, and 100 SMS per day. Post consumption of the 1GB daily data, the internet speed will reduce to 64 Kbps for the rest of the day. The plan comes with a validity of 20 days. Additional benefits include subscriptions to Jio apps, including JioCloud, JioTV, and JioCinema.
Reliance Jio also recently introduced two new prepaid plans bundled with a Netflix subscription. The plans are priced at Rs. 1099 and Rs. 1499 and are valid for 84 days. The Rs. 1099 prepaid plan offers a Netflix Mobile subscription, while the Rs. 1499 plan includes a Netflix Basic subscription.
