After acquiring studio films from various studios in 2020, Netflix is promising to deliver an original film every week. The announcement came today by releasing a 3-minute promotional video on social media channels featuring the stars from the 2021 Netflix original film slate. Dwayne Johnson, Amy Adams, Ryan Reynolds, Gal Gadot, Lin-Manuel Miranda, and Chris Hemsworth among others are set to appear in Netflix Original films this year.
One of the most anticipated films from Netflix in their history is Red Notice, starring Dwayne Johnson, Ryan Reynolds, and Gal Gadot among others. The global heist film synopsis reads the Interpol issuing a Red notice to hunt down the world’s greatest art thief.
Disney’s Fox 2000 Pictures last film starring Amy Adams titled The Woman in the Window, which was sold to Netflix after reshoots and pushing the release multiple times is one of the noteworthy thrillers in the slate. After recusing the Fear Street film trilogy from Disney’s 20th Century Studios, Chernin Entertainment is set to release all three films only a month apart.
Highlights of the slate include, “Army of the Dead” directed by Zack Synder after his Justice League debacle, the directional debut of Lin-Manuel Miranda in “Tick, tick… Boom!”, “Don’t Look Up” starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Jennifer Lawrence, Ariana Grande, and Meryl Streep, and Sony Pictures Animation’s original concept “Wish Dragon”.
