LG has unveiled two new LG TONE Free True Wireless Stereo (TWS) earbuds called the HBS-FN4 and HBS-FN6. The latter is having an industry-first self-cleaning charging case that uses LG’s UVnano to kill bacteria while recharging the earbuds.

The UVnano on HBS-FN6 model kills 99.9 per cent of E. coli and S. aureus from the hypoallergenic silicone ear gel and inner mesh of the buds by emitting UV light. The company said “Several studies have shown that earbuds can harbour more bacteria than a kitchen cutting board. This can potentially lead to ear infections.”

Both HBS-FN4 and HBS-FN6 support Google Assistant and Siri. These earbuds are powered by Meridian Audio that is claimed to provide realistic-sounding audio straight into your ear canals through Meridian’s HPS (Headphone Spatial Processing) technology for immersive sound. These earbuds will use a new in-canal design for a more comfortable fit than the “semi-open” earlier so that the seal can offer better noise isolation.

These earphones are IPX4-rated for water resistance and come with touch controls to control playback and volume directly on the earphones. It supports SBC and AAC Bluetooth codecs.

Each earbud has a 55 mAh battery that can last for up to 6 hours while the charging case has a 390 mAh battery to provide a total playback time of 18 hours. LG claims that you will get 1 hour of playback time in 5 minutes of fast charge.

Starting next month these earbuds will be available in key American and European markets. LG have not revealed its price or availability in other markets yet.
