Reliance Jio, the largest telecom operator by subscriber base has announced ‘Happy New Year’ 2020 offer for its smartphone as well as Jio phone subscribers. Through these plans, Jio is offering 1 year of unlimited services to its users for Rs. 2020. These annual plans will save the subscribers from the hassle of monthly recharges and keeping track of validity for 1 year.
The Happy new year 2020 plan for smartphone subscribers offers 1.5 GB 4G data per day along with access to Jio apps, 100 SMS per day, unlimited calling to Jio numbers and landlines and 12000 minutes of free calling to Airtel, Vodafone Idea and BSNL mobile numbers with a validity of 365 days. This plan comes at a discount of 179 rupees on the existing annual plan of 2199 while offering the same benefits.
The Happy new year 2020 plan for Jio phone users offers a new Jio phone bundled with 500 MB data per day along with access to Jio apps, 100 SMS per day, unlimited calling to Jio numbers and landlines and 12000 minutes of free calling to Airtel, Vodafone Idea and BSNL mobile numbers with a validity of 336 days (28 days X 12 cycles).
Since TRAI has pushed back the implementation of the zero IUC regime by 1 year to be applicable from 1st Jan 2021, Jio will not be offering true unlimited voice to its subscribers until then. This discounted annual recharge plan is available starting today and will be available until the first week of January.
@Esmail : What’s the rule for acquiring non sub-Ghz bands from auction? Can Jio acquire everything in band 1/3/40/41 in upcoming auctions if Airtel/VIL doesn’t bid for any airwaves?(20Mhz in band 3/41/10Mhz in band 1/50Mhz in band 40 in portfolio of Jio. Is this possible?)
Thanks in advance.
For sub GHz spectrum an operator can acquire 50% of the available spectrum. There is no limit on the high-frequency spectrum but total spectrum (sub-GHZ + High-Frequency) held by an operator should not exceed 35% of the total spectrum.
Taking Delhi as an example Total Spectrum (low + high) is 557.8 Mhz so it can acquire max of 194MHZ of spectrum. which may include 35Mhz of low frequency and rest (159MhZ) of high-frequency spectrum.
The answer that Rohit has given is correct. There is only a 50% cap for total sub GHz spectrum which is 700+850+900 Mhz bands put together. And an overall 35% cap for all spectrum available across all bands in a circle. So Jio can theoretically acquire the entire spectrum in any given band so long as it doesn’t breach these two rules.
