Reliance Jio’s video on demand platform Jio Cinema has added video content from Hoichoi which is primarily a Bengali video streaming platform with some titles also available as dubbed in Hindi. Jio cinema already had content from Voot, Alt Balaji, Eros Now, Shemaroo Me, Sun Nxt, Disney, and Paramount before adding Hoichoi content to its arsenal.
Titles added from Hoichoi include The Nightwatchman, Monty Pilot, Junoon, Tales of Mystery and Thrill, Once Upon a Crime, Daastan E Love, Kaamini, Paying guests, Charitraheen, Dhanbad Blues, Hello, etc. All dubbed in Hindi.
Hoichoi, owned by SVF Entertainment, is all set to ramp up its slate with original content. Vishnu Mohta, the co-founder at Hoichoi and director of SVF, said the company plans to launch at least 25 original series and 6 original movies in the current financial year. Hoichoi’s library comprises over 50 original series and as many as 12 original films at present.
At present Jio Cinema is also available as a mini-app embedded within My Jio app but it has limited content and limited functionality. If you wish to explore the full potential of Jio cinema and use it to cast videos to your big screen TV over Chromecast then you will need to install the standalone Jio cinema app.
It is also worth noting that Jio Cinema only works when there is a Jio sim card present in the smartphone, though the web version works fine with an OTP based login. Jio Cinema subscription comes bundled with all unlimited packs of Jio.
