JioCinema has been in the News lately for having record viewership for IPL which it is streaming for free. The Viacom-18 owned digital streaming platform is apparently set for a new brand identity after the company merges JioCinema and Voot to create JioVoot sometime next month. Earlier today we revealed the Premium subscription plans which will be live on the app once the fresh premium content by Jio Studios is added on the platform.
Now OnlyTech has credible information from sources connected to the development that Paramount+ will be launched as a paid addon on the new JioVoot app and will encompass content from Paramount Studios, Paramount+, and Showtime. The announcement for the same might happen as early as the first week of May and the service might launch by the third week of May (tentatively) before the end of the IPL.
As per the sources, Tulsa King will be the first title by Paramount+ to be added to the platform along with Voot Select title Asur season 2 and Jio Studios content like Bhediya and Vikram Vedha. These would be accessible only by subscribing to the premium plans. The subscription details for Paramount+ addon are currently not available.
It is also being said that Showtime content which is currently available on Disney+ Hotstar may move to Paramount+ once the service is launched and the license with Disney+ expires for India. It remains to be seen how this affects the multi-billion dollar streaming space in India which is constantly shifting the market structure and hierarchy.
