The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) today issued amendments to all ILD licenses (Other than UL) and all NLD licenses (Other than UL) regarding the procurement of telecommunications equipment. Clause 23.7A (x) under Security Conditions of the ILD license and NLD license has been amended by DoT in pursuance with the Condition 12.1 of the NLD and ILD license.
As per the amended clause, ILD and NLD licensees (Other than UL) will now also have to seek the permission of the Designated Authority i.e National Cyber Security Coordinator for the expansion of their existing network utilizing telecommunication equipment that is not designated as Trusted Products.
Effective 15th June 2021, ILD and NLD licensees (Other than UL) were mandated to connect only Trusted Products in their network and seek permission from the Designated Authority for up-gradation of an existing network utilizing telecommunication equipment that is not designated as Trusted Products.
The directives continue to exclude and will not affect ongoing Annual Maintenance Contracts (AMC) or updates to existing equipment already inducted into the network as of the date of effect.
As per DoT, 20 NLD licenses were granted before the UL regime whereas 16 ILD licenses were granted before the UL regime. The amended license agreement will ensure compliance of those service providers who are still on the ILD and NLD licenses issued before the UL regime.
DoT had yesterday issued amendments to the Unified Access Services License (UASL), Unified License (UL), and Unified License (Virtual Network Operator) {UL(VNO)} agreement enforcing similar directives.
