After its successful entry into the Hindi and Tamil markets, Disney+ Hotstar is all set out to explore the Telugu market now. The platform having synergy with its sister linear channel Star Maa has utilized the biggest reality show Bigg Boss to unveil its Telugu-launch campaign called “Mana Vinoda Vishwam!” featuring Ram Charan. The actor is donning the hat of the brand ambassador for the platform after his cousin Allu Arjun, whose family currently runs the streaming competitor Aha.
On September 17, Disney+ Hotstar had put a plethora of new content featuring big-name talent from the Telugu film industry such as Nithiin, Jagapathi Babu, Rajendra Prasad, Priyadarshi, Avasarala Srinivas, Ajay among others with the films Maestro, Annabelle Sethupathi, and Hotstar Specials series Unheard. The company promised to bring unparalleled entertainment featuring the talent that the Telugu film industry has to offer.
The company also announced the upcoming Telugu Hotstar Specials such as Gharshana, 9 Hours and Jhansi premiering on the platform in the months to follow. Gharshana is a crime drama featuring Jagapathi Babu, Sarath Kumar, and Naveen Chandra in the lead roles and is bankrolled by Baahubali production house Arka Media Works. The details regarding the others are still under wraps as of now. The business head of the platform’s sister linear network Star Maa, Alok Jain is currently heading the Telugu content development at Disney+ Hotstar as well.
The face of the Disney+ Hotstar’s entry into the Telugu market, actor Ram Charan said, “Disney+ Hotstar have been pioneers of content in India; bringing A-class global, Indian, regional movies along with engrossing digital series, in multiple languages, at our doorstep. With the platform’s entry in[to] the Telugu entertainment market, I can foresee the opportunities opening up for makers and actors in Tollywood. This enjoyable association with the Telugu entertainment lovers will add to the wide array of content the platform will be hosting.”

Disney+ Hotstar India is currently the home for the Hollywood content produced by the Walt Disney Studios, Pixar, Marvel Studios, Lucasfilm, National Geographic, 20th Century Studios, FX, HBO, Searchlight Pictures, and Disney Television Studios. The streamer also holds rights for sporting events like IPL, BCCI, ICC world cups, Cricket in South Africa, Premier League, Indian Super League, Tennis Grandslams, F1, FE, One Championships, BWF, and PKL among others. The annual subscription cost of the platform starts at INR 499.
