WWE SmackDown Taping Results For 5/21


WWE SmackDown

* Roman Reigns kicks off SmackDown with a promo about Payback. Reigns gets a massive ovation when he comes out. He talks about losing at Payback and says he briefly had fun with The Shield again. Reigns says he’s entering Money In the Bank. Dean Ambrose interrupts and talks about MITB and says he’s going to defeat Seth Rollins at Elimination Chamber. Kane comes out and says The Authority always wins in the end. Kane says Reigns won’t be in MITB because he lost at Payback and WrestleMania. Kane announces Ambrose vs. Bray Wyatt for tonight and gives Reigns the night off.

* Cesaro and Tyson Kidd vs. Los Matadores vs. The Ascension vs. The Lucha Dragons is next. The New Day and The Prime Time Players were on commentary. Sin Cara and Kalisto get the win with a sick top rope move on one of the Matadores. This was said to be an excellent opening match.

* Dolph Ziggler is backstage with Renee Young. Lana appears with Ziggler and they flirt with each other.

* Dolph Ziggler defeated King Barrett in another really good match. Lana looks on and cheers for Ziggler after the match.

* Paige comes out to a huge pop and talks about how this is her house and how she is still #1 contender for the Divas Title. Naomi comes out with Tamina Snuka to talk trash. They jump Paige and out comes Nikki Bella for the save.

* We get a creepy promo from Bray Wyatt.

* R-Truth defeated Stardust.

* Ryback talks to Renee Young backstage about how he will win the Intercontinental Title at Elimination Chamber.

* The Meta Powers defeated Adam Rose and Heath Slater.

* Renee interviews Bo Dallas but he gets the “what?” treatment.

* Dean Ambrose vs. Bray Wyatt is next. J&J Security do the run-in and Seth Rollins is out next. Roman Reigns comes out for the save and Ambrose ends up getting the win with Dirty Deeds. This was said to be an excellent back and forth match. SmackDown ends with Ambrose staring down Rollins from the ramp.

- WWE has announced that NXT Champion Kevin Owens will be defending his title on this Thursday’s SmackDown.
Owens will be defending his title in an open challenge, taking a shot at Money In the Bank opponent John Cena. No word yet if a NXT Superstar or main roster Superstar will be answering the challenge.

WWE SMACK DOWN Results tapped for 5/6/2015 (IST)

* WWE World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins opens the taping gloating about dismantling The Shield, not needing Kane's help to win the "Money in the Bank" briefcase and that he is the greatest WWE World Heavyweight Champion of all time. Rollins, still without his title, said he doesn't need The Authority's help to beat Dean Ambrose at the Money in the Bank PPV. Ambrose shows up on the tron and cuts a promo on Rollins.

* The Prime Time Players def. The Ascension and The Lucha Dragons to become the new No. 1 Contenders for the WWE Tag Team Championships.

* Backstage, WWE Tag Team Champions The New Day were cutting a promo on The Prime Time Players. Kane walks up and tells them that they will defend their titles against The Prime Time Players at Money in the Bank in two weeks.

* WWE Intercontinental Champion Ryback def. Stardust in a non-title match.

* Backstage, Paige said The Bella's have ruined the Divas division and if you don't like the world you live in, you must change it. Paige promises to change the world.

* Kevin Owens def. Zack Ryder to retain the NXT Championship in an Open Challenge match. Before the match, Owens cut a promo about John Cena promising to show his son, who loves Cena, what a real man is after he beats him again.

* Backstage, Sheamus promised to beat Roman Reigns later tonight and to capture the "Money in the Bank" briefcase in two weeks.

* Neville def. Kofi Kingston.

* Miz TV with special guest Lana. A video package plays replaying the break up between Lana and Rusev. Miz asked Lana why she would leave Rusev in his time of need and implied that she was only using Rusev. Miz introduces a special guest, Rusev. Rusev asks Lana for a second chance and goes for a hug. Lana doesn't accept his apology. Dolph Ziggler comes out and Rusev insults Lana. Lana leaves the ring with Ziggler.

* Roman Reigns vs. Sheamus never took place. Kane attacked Reigns right away and then announced he would also be in the "Money in the Bank" ladder match. Kane, Seth Rollins and J&J Security beat down Reigns until Dean Ambrose ran out for the save.

* Zack Ryder defeated Brad Maddox
* Erick Rowan & Luke Harper defeated The Lucha Dragons
WWE SmackDown
* Sheamus kicks off SmackDown with a promo about cashing in Money In the Bank but Dean Ambrose interrupts. Sheamus dares Ambrose to come take the briefcase but out comes Kane. Kane announces he and Sheamus vs. Dean Ambrose for right now.
* Sheamus and Kane defeat Dean Ambrose by DQ when Roman Reigns interrupts to spear Kane.
* Ambrose and Reigns vs. Sheamus and Kane is announced for later.
* Brie Bella defeated Paige with the help from Alicia Fox, who knocked Paige off the top rope.
* Kevin Owens comes out for a promo but Cesaro interrupts. A match is made for later.
* Bo Dallas comes out for a promo about Dolph Ziggler being a bad rebound for Lana, saying he would “swipe left” if he were her. Dolph wins the match with a Zig Zag.
* Neville defeated Xavier Woods with Red Arrow. Big E and Kofi Kingston tried to interfere but Titus O’Neil and Darren Young stopped them.
* Seth Rollins comes out and cuts a promo on Brock Lesnar being scared of him. Rollins is confident about their match at Battleground.
* NXT Champion Kevin Owens defeated Cesaro with the pop-up powerbomb. This was said to be a very good match.
* Sheamus and Kane defeated Roman Reigns and Dean Ambrose in the main event. Bray Wyatt appeared on the screen and distracted Reigns, leading to the finish.
* The dark main event after the SmackDown tapings saw Dean Ambrose and Roman Reigns defeat Bray Wyatt and WWE World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins.

WWE taped the June 25th WWE SmackDown episode from the Huntington Center in Toledo, Ohio. Here are full WWE SmackDown spoilers.
* Seth Rollins, Kane and Joey Mercury kick off SmackDown and acknowledge Jamie Noble being out. Ryback came out and got put into a match with Kane. Rollins issued an open challenge for Dean Ambrose to fight him later.
* Sheamus defeated Dolph Ziggler after Rusev provided distraction. Summer Rae gave props to Rusev and winked at him backstage after the match.
* Alicia Fox defeated Naomi. The Bella Twins were at ringside with Tamina Snuka and got double superkicked.
* Ryback defeated Kane by DQ when he was attacked on the ramp by Big Show. Show destroyed him and threw him back in the ring to Kane but he kicked out at 2. Ryback fought back but Show ran back in for the DQ. They destroyed Ryback after the match also and he was helped to the back. The injury looked legit but was not.
* Backstage segment with The New Day and The Prime Time Players.
* The Lucha Dragons and The PTP defeated Bo Dallas and The New Day. Sin Cara and Kalisto got a big pop here.
* Backstage segment with Dean Ambrose and Roman Reigns, who is being haunted by Bray Wyatt’s mind tricks.
* Seth Rollins defeated Dean Ambrose in a match that saw Joey Mercury interfere. Rollins took advantage and hit a Pedigree to win.

WWE Smackdown taping results for July 7, 2015:
* In-ring segment with WWE World Champion Seth Rollins & Paul Heyman, going back-and-forth. Rollins vs. Ryback and Roman Reigns vs. Big Show announced for later.

* Dean Ambrose def. Bo Dallas.

* Rusev w/Summer Rae def. Fandango. Rusev is now wearing wrestling boots.

* Roman Reigns def. The Big Show by DQ after Bray Wyatt interfered, fooling Reigns with the decoy and attacking him from behind. Wyatt hit two Sister Abigails on Reigns afterwards, laying him out.

* WWE Tag Team Champion Titus O'Neil def. Big E.

* In-ring promo by Randy Orton. The Ascension interrupt, they get laid out by Orton with RKOs.

* Brie Bella & Alicia Fox def. Naomi & Tamina Snuka.

* WWE Intercontinental Champion Ryback def. WWE World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins by count-out. Afterwards, Big Show and Rollins attacked Ryback until Roman Reigns made the save to end the show.

- The Wrestling Observer Newsletter notes that WWE SmackDown is pretty much seen as a lame-duck show until it switches stations to the USA Network in January 2016.
Jerry Lawler previously teased that the show may go back to Friday nights and go live but we’ve heard no update on that. However, there has been talk of debuting SmackDown on USA with a live Tuesday night special.
Once SmackDown is moved to the USA Network next year it will likely be booked as a “all hands on-deck” show, comparable to RAW.
