Only 1 fingerprint can be registered.
No alternate option for unlock.

If your finger is injured, your WhatsApp is locked.

No, WhatsApp is only using fingerprints saved on your device which you use to unlock the phone. You can add more fingerprints by going to Security settings of your device.
