First ODI in Canada - Sahara Cup match
between India and Pakistan

The first ODI match to be played in
Canada happened on this day in 1996.
This was the first ODI of the Sahara
Cup between India and Pakistan,
played at the Toronto Cricket, Skating
and Curling Club. Pakistan managed
170 runs in the rain-affected tie, that
was reduced to 33-overs a side. who had turned up to the
ground, saw Saeed Anwar miss a half-
century by 4 runs. But they were more
than rewarded in the second innings
as Sachin Tendulkar hit a superb run-
a-ball 89 and remained unbeaten
while Rahul Dravid and Mohammad
Azharuddin got amongst the runs too
as India chased down the target in the
30th over.

1997 - Brothers galore in 1 game

For the first time ever, 3 pairs of
brothers were playing in the same side.
This would've been 4 had Guy
Whittal's cousin, Andy, been included
in the Zimbabwe side.
The match was between Zimbabwe
and New Zealand, and the players
being spoken about are Andy and
Grant Flower, Bryan and Paul Strang,
and Gavin and John Rennie.

2007 - Yuvraj sends Broad to the
cleaners

The T20 format had already set the
stage alight, and when Yuvraj Singh
smashed Stuart Broad for six sixes in
one over, it went into overdrive.
The match against England in the 2007
T20 WC was not going decently for
India, but Yuvraj Singh put his side
firmly in control by smashing the living
daylights of Stuart Broad - only the
2nd batsman ever to hit six sixers in
one over.
