12 Unknown Facts about India's most dynamic skipper Sourav Ganguly - Sportzwiki

9th July 1982

Botham scores a fine 208, his only Test double ton

Resuming on his overnight score of 82,
Sir Ian Botham tore the Indian bowling
to shreds as he marched to his only
double century of his career. None of
the bowlers were spared, and Botham
took a special liking to Kapil Dev and
Dilip Doshi. 19 fours and 4 sixes
decorated the knock as the Oval crowd
was provided with plenty of
entertainment. It wasn't a match-
winning knock though as India, despite
losing Sunil Gavaskar to an injury held
on to a grim draw.

Happy birthday to the former Indian spinner Venkatapathy Raju. He turns 47 today. :ohya :ohya

Kaif and Yuvraj shine - India win the Natwest trophy

Chasing 326, India lost their way in the
middle overs before young guns,
Yuvraj Singh and Mohammad Kaif
revived the chase with a 121-run
stand for the 6th wicket. Yuvraj fell,
but Kaif guided the team past the
victory post. The most vivid moment of
the post-match celebrations was
skipper, Sourav Ganguly twirling his
shirt in the Lord's balcony.

Today in 2002, Sourav Ganguly, Mohammad Kaif & Yuvraj Singh's fifty-plus scores helped India to win the Natwest final at Lord's. :luv :luv :luv
