Ukraine was never gonna get into NATO. I am not gonna say why until the war ends. Russia was no fool. They already knew about it. This was nothing but to show strength at global stage. They miscalculated ability of their own forces and got humiliated instead. Ceasefire or not. Sanctions needs to stay for a while. Let their stock market collapse. Turn them into next North Korea. Unless they come with something like The Marshall Plan to compensate all the damages caused.

For some reason Russia was unwilling to use its obviously superior airpower to full use in Ukraine.

Ceasefire or not. Sanctions needs to stay for a while. Let their stock market collapse. Turn them into next North Korea. Unless they come with something like The Marshall Plan to compensate all the damages caused.

Yah good luck with that.If anything these sanctions and isolation of Russia would strengthen Putin's hold even further.And more worryingly for West would bring Russian and China even closer

Ukraine is no Chechnya. Using brute force would've turned Russians against this so called Special Military operations. It carries historical values. Even the modern day Russia was founded in Ukraine.

This time Ukraine was also better prepared. Last time propaganda worked. Because they were trying to takeover pro Russian areas. This time game has changed. Their expectations of being welcomed again with open arms flopped. They are shocked with resistance. These push towards peace talks shows that even they want this to end. They want to do it by saving their face which Ukraine doesn't want.

Marriage of convience doesn't last long. They are a middle income country. They cannot forever rely on India and China to buy their oil. One great thing Putin did with all this was strengthen and united the EU.
