US President Joe Biden signed an executive order calling on the Federal Trade Commission to curb restrictions imposed by manufacturers that limit consumers’ ability to repair their gadgets on their own terms. The UK, too, introduced right-to-repair rules that should make it much easier to buy and repair daily-use gadgets such as TVs and washing machines.
The goal of the movement is to get companies to make spare parts, tools and information on how to repair devices available to customers and repair shops to increase the lifespan of products and to keep them from ending up in landfills.
They argue that these electronic manufacturers are encouraging a culture of ‘planned obsolescence’ — which means that devices are designed specifically to last a limited amount of time and to be replaced. This, they claim, leads to immense pressure on the environment and wasted natural resources.

We also need same law so we could spend less and utilise more on electronic devices. But, here raise a question who will put rein on these companies charging high in name of repair parts.

With chip shortages affecting Phone and car production currently, in future we might see companies starting to support repair things and due to pandemic affecting peoples earning and reducing unnecessary expenditure might force company to support old gadgets for longer term as consumers are trying to use old electronic items for longer term as newer variant barely has any new features compared to its high prices companies charge.

Companies need to act responsible they need to think about nature as well otherwise sooner or later we will stuck in a garbage heap of e-waste. For example cost of a original TV panel is kept at 28000 like seriously?

But companies think, removing the charger from the box is the best way to save the environment.

Taking the old phone's working charger and giving new charger at discount rate instead would literally work for environment.
They could provide small gesture of discount or clubbed services free for few months to customer who return their newly purchased device's no damaged box. So, brand can reuse them.

Companies needs to start buying back old gadgets and re-use the items.
They indirectly do that but end up using old repaired gadgets with fixes and sell it as refurbished ones . though they do end up repairing old phones or gadgets to sell as refurbished but wont agree to repair old gadget most often.
