I know a person who is gifting his employees (house keeping staff) Diwali gift 5 smartphones. I told him about this jio phone. He said he knows and asked about it to his employee.. He said don't bother with jios,if possible gift us a Samsung A series phone.

jio has got a bad reputation deservedly due to jiophones (specially the spreadtrum ones) being unreliable. The new ones from last year are solid though.

They could still make it sell like hotcakes with just one change (not even in price) in their T&C. Just allow this phone to use JioPhone recharge plans (for full payment ones at least) like say,

Rs75/28 days for UL calls + 100MB/day -- attractive for old people. (Use WiFi in home)
Rs125/28 days for UL calls + 0.5GB/day -- useful for secondary connection / number.
Rs155/28 days for UL calls + 1GB/day -- Bang for the buck data plan.
Rs185/28 days for UL calls + 2GB/day -- Best HotSpot tethering plan.

But Jio will never do this, as this will kill their ARPU.

Wait what we can't use JioPhone plans in this JioPhone Next

BTW I think they can these phone at 6499 just by adding 24 month recharge in which offer unlimited calling and SMS with 1GB data per month or give 12 month recharge in which offer unlimited calling and SMS with 500MB data per day. I guess this is what they will offer.
