Prasar Bharati has invited proposals for the integration of application platforms with its OTT platform.
One proposal involves integrating OTT, gaming, educational, or other apps within the Prasar Bharti OTT platform on a revenue-sharing basis, where only the applicant platform provides content to Prasar Bharti.
The other proposal suggests a similar app-in-app integration but allows for content exchange between the applicant platform and Prasar Bharti on a revenue-sharing model.
Prasar Bharati further said that gaming applications promoting 'monetary transactions' and 'betting' or 'game of chance' in any mode will not be allowed
The All India Digital Cable Federation (AIDCF) has raised concerns over a notice issued by Prasar Bharati to TV broadcasters and urged the information and broadcasting ministry to direct the public broadcaster to withdraw the notice, arguing that it violates the existing guidelines.
In a letter to the ministry dated September 2, the federation urged secretary Sanjay Jaju to provide clear directions to broadcasters to provide satellite TV channels only to licensed service providers including multi-system operators (MSOs), direct-to-home (DTH) services, internet protocol television (IPTV) providers and headend in the sky (HITS) operators.

According to sources, Prasar Bharati received 106 applications and 44 channels are selected. But, 40 Channels are set to join OTT platform, rest 4 channels denied at last stage.
The launch was earlier scheduled for September 15, which is now pushed to October amidst the growing concerns from select broadcasters and streaming platforms.
A little over a month after inviting applications for onboarding permitted/ licensed satellite TV channels for streaming on its new OTT platform, Prasar Bharati has reportedly received over 100 applications, as per industry sources. Of these, around 44 have been selected.
