Discussion Petrol, Diesel, CNG and LPG updates in India

Fuel prices again started moving north after a pause for eight days, as oil companies on Tuesday raised pump price of diesel by 25 paise that pushed up its price in Delhi to a record Rs 80.78 per litre.

The retail price of petrol, however, remained unchanged for the eighth day on Tuesday at Rs 80.43 per litre, according to state-run Indian Oil Corporation (IOC).

After eight days, diesel price hiked again; petrol remains unchanged

Petrol and diesel prices in the country on Saturday touched new all-time highs after rates were increased for the fourth time this week. Petrol and diesel prices were hiked by 25 paise per litre each, according to a price notification from oil marketing companies.

This took the petrol price in Delhi to Rs 85.70 per litre and in Mumbai to Rs 92.28. Diesel rate climbed to Rs 75.88 a litre in the national capital and to Rs 82.66 per litre in Mumbai, the price data showed.

Someone promised that Petrol will come under GST once its implemented successfully. It's nearly 4 years and still we are waiting for it.

And it's literally hard to see some friends support this move also blindly

As long as there is Rahul Gandhi as an opposition front face, Narendra Modi can make any statement and talk any amount of lies and jolly-well get away with it.

Thanks to continuous people trolling or posts in social media , some news channels are forced to show about petrol & diesel price rise due to taxes put but by both Centre & states increase Excise & VAT. During debate in one of he news Channel, Central party spokesperson inadvertently told they had to increase taxes & excise on petrol by Centre to meet covid-19 expenses and it was of revenue source to meet expenditure which was caused last year . I wish government could have told it directly about being transparent rather than blame other factors market etc. when in reality its not related to that , even center owned petrol cos don't that much base price approx. Rs 32, petrol suppler commission in Rs 4 , Centre does approve 37% Excise tax on petrol and state does 27% VAT on petrol. frankly even state government is equal responsible as central govt for imposing taxes and increase price. overall the starting stated only about GST never talked about increased tax & cess only after questioning about why price raised when international market price decreased and base price and commission charges and questioned and showed about taxes imposed by both state & central he admitted about raising price to meet covid-19 expense.

I don't understand govt talks about Transparency then why don't they admit they increased to meet the expenditure rather than blaming other factors - people voted them as they expect them to be better than other party but they should not end up same as other party.

hope they include petroleum in GST in future. sadly there is possibility private company which ends up buying the the govt PSU oil company they might end up charging more in future to meet expenses.
