Chinese tech startup OnePlus may not have launched the OnePlus One in India initially, but ever since the company entered the country in late 2014 with its debut offering, its products have been lapped up by millions of tech-friendly, but value-conscious users across the country, making India one of the largest markets for the company worldwide. That being the case, the latest smartphone from the company, theOnePlus 3, went on sale within moments of the device’s announcement earlier this month. It is exclusively available on Amazon Indiafor now, and comes with a number of time-limited offers just to sweeten the deal for the early-birds. One of the offers happens to be a free accidental damage protection plan that will be valid for the first twelve months after purchase.

According to the terms of the offer, anybody who damages their OnePlus 3 accidentally within the first year of ownership will be eligible to get it repaired at an authorized OnePlus service center for free or at nominal charges. Called the Servify Accidental Damage Protection, the plan needs to be manually activated by buyers within 7 days of receiving the device from Amazon or within 10 days of buying it, whichever is earlier. Failing to do that will unfortunately mean that you’ll miss out on the free insurance scheme that can potentially save you a good chunk of your cash if your handset was to ever get damaged one way or another.

Those who’re eligible for the scheme just need to do a few things to get it activated for their device. Firstly, users will need to download and install the OnePlus Care app from the Google Play Store, where it’s available for free. Once that’s done, the device needs to be registered via the app by uploading a scanned copy of the invoice received from Amazon. Those without immediate access to a scanner can use the app’s built-in camera software to get the job done. That’s all you need to do from your side, and if your registration request is accepted, you’ll be notified within three days. If not, you can always contact Servify  through the option provided in the app and hopefully get everything sorted out that way.
