Hyderabad: Taking a cue from the traders of Sadar Bazaar in New Delhi who have decided not to sell China made crackers, businessmen from the City of Minarets too decided to give the Chinese crackers a miss. With just a few weeks left for the festival of lights- Diwali -traders are bracing up for sales but with a big NO to Chinese crackers

Telangana firecrackers association president Manik Rao categorically stated that they would support the decision to ban Chinese crackers, and have passed a message to all the members of association not to sell and use any kind of China made products

"The wholesalers and retailers are also very supportive and are not selling any Chinese crackers," he said

While the traders decided not to sell Chinese made crackers, people too it seems are not so keen. A trader says Chinese crackers contain potassium and chloride while Indian crackers contain sulphur and aluminium powder which is less harmful to the environment. Purushottam Das says that sales are just about picking up and people are also not asking for Chinese goods

Shanti Fireworks owner Sanjay Kumar said, "The decision to ban Chinese crackers is a good move and we support the call of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The Chinese crackers contain potassium and chloride which produces a lot of air pollution."

"In the past three years, the rates have not changed. We are hopeful that the sales would pick up. This year, there are 60 new varieties in the market," he added
