Not agree with you at all!
Just try a very little calculation.
Say, Jio is not in the business scenario. You're in any of the AVoId or Bhai Saab Nahi Lagega network.
You had to spent at least 10 times for 1/4 th of the data use in last 1 year.

well, I dont say Jio is doing anything wrong..
infact they re still d cheapest.. so its still benifital for all of us.

All I m saying is, this is their business model.... first hand out freebies, and once people get associated with them, they charge for it ( though how nominal that wud be)
The freebies given at the start are just a part of the bait, to get d customer base.

That is a win-win for customers as well as the business owners bro. We can't see that as a bait. Jio has done exceptionally well in terms of service for a new telecom company. My primary number is Jio and several people advised me not to port my primary. Yet, I did it and have no regrets. There was only one mishap due to the postpaid plan issue which took time to get resolved. But other than that I'm very happy. No other telco can provide 4G network in the remotest areas as Jio does. We got to appreciate Ambani for it. And in the end, Business without profit is useless and I think we should not mind this strategy of Ambani as we are only at the beneficial end and not at the losing end!!

Well, that's the business model of almost every business. Even a new local grocery stores provide you some more discounts & freebies than the established store.
Jio just stopped the loot of AVoId.
Do you remember the ₹500 Mobile phone (popularly known as RIM) by Mukesh Ambani in 2001-02 (correct me if wrong with the year). Before that we had pay for incoming (yes, it was - for the younger generation).

yeah.. its a business afterall, and they need to earn. I m not saying there's anything wrong in it.

But answer my one question, if they hadnt given free trials in d beginning... wud u have switched to jio ?
or even if u wud have, u wudnt have been too excited abt it... or proactive abt it, as u had been in d case of free period.

Why, thats bcoz that free period was a bait afterall... for luring customers to try their product in a short span of time.
People wud have tried it eventually, bcoz of its lower price... but may be 1 or 2 yrs wud have gone by to get a substancial customer base...

With Free trial period, they got d subscribers in 3 months, what they wud ve got in probably 2 yrs.... its a word-of-mouth thing..

if something is selling for free... its bound to grab more eyeballs

So, all I m saying is, its their business strategy... giving free trials at the start. Nothing wrong in it. But yes, its a bait only for luring customers, to flock to them in small time.

yeah.. I m saying the same thing bro.
But there are many companies that dont follow that path, airtel, Idea etc... they never went free at the start of their businesses. Its reliance, who follows that strategy religiously.

Bait is not the right word @shawl_who bro. It's used when you intend to cheat/kill later. So currently Jio hasn't done that. If they do that in future then you would be correct.

ok, so here's the official meaning of d word 'bait' :em:

> food placed on a hook or in a net, trap, or fishing area to entice fish or other animals as prey
> a smallamount of food on a hook (= curvedpiece of wire) or in a specialdevice used to attract and catch a fish or animal:

It doesnt says, to kill/cheat animals, only to entice/lure them.
Likewise, humans are being lured/being attracted to by JIO freebies.
