Still very much switching to LTE for voice calls. VoLTE to VoNR will take at least a year more to make the shift.
They will coexist at a time. VoLTE isn't going anywhere for another three years. Jio has been planning to launch 2GB ram 4G smartphone with Unisoc chipset. I don't know why its not launched yet. China Covid is the reason I guess.

Modem difference is quiet visible.
Hey my wife got 5G plan added on her Jio number as per My Jio app since 2 days but she still cannot latch on 5G network. Standalone toggle is enabled in her iPhone 13 Pro. So it’s all confusing.

Edit: Just checked and now even she can latch on 5G but it shows Jio True5G…?

Modem difference is quiet visible.

Both have same SOC A15 Bionic and both have Qualcomm Snapdragon X60 5G Modem

This is strictly Jio's randomization.

BTW you need to hold back your wild speculations again. No one knows Jio's plan apart from plausible theory of 5G beta test (Free data) running for entire 2023.

When I mentioned VoNR replacing VoLTE I was referring to that happening specifically on 5G capable handsets which support Standalone network and VoNR but are currently only using voice through VoLTE since Jio is yet to enable VoNR as the network doesn't have blanket coverage yet. I never said VoNR is going to be a replacement to VoLTE in the general sense (like 4G network being shut down in favour of 5G). Both 4G and 5G will continue to coexist and 4G with VoLTE may continue all through the end of this decade, since people will continue to use 4G only handsets.

Is there any android APP to check whether 5G is available in the location ?

Decade really? I don't think its possible. Jio will make it mandatory for everyone to use 5G by 2027-2028. Mediatek Helio G99 and Snapdragon 680 are the last of 4G chipsets I believe. I don't think there will be 4G chipsets released here onwards. 4nm/5nm/6nm will be 5G chipsets. Samsung has stopped making 4G chipsets too. They are doing extensive research on high end chipsets for their Galaxy S series which will be unveiled on Janauray 2026. 4G has to shut down within 4 years from now on. That's why I felt, Vi should have bought 4G spectrum in last couple of auctions. In last auctions band 3. In this auction, band 1/8/41. That would have made big sense to them and they would have been profitable. In lot of circles they are 10Mhz on band 3/1. It would have been software upgrade for them to upgrade to 20Mhz in these both bands. They needed band 41 in Tamil Nadu and Karnataka. They are yet to buy those. I don't understand why. Vodafone strong point was urban area, they failed to capitalize on Chennai and Bangalore as urban market. Jio should start shutting down band 40 on 4G by 2024 start or at the most 2025 start. Otherwise it has no meaning.
